Personal Bio:

I am a 29 year old special education teacher. This is my sixth season competing in triathlon. After playing collegiate soccer I swore that I would never run again...as we can see that's changed! Triathlon is more than just a hobby, it's a lifestyle that I love to live every day!

5 things we should know about you:

I have two dogs,Winther and Roxy.
I love naps.
I would much rather spend 4 hours on my bike than on the golf course.
Snow sports are awesome.
I fall asleep during most movies.

How did you first get into triathlons?

I was sitting in my parents basement two years after graduating college when the Ironman World Championships came on tv. I remember telling my Dad that I was going to do that race some day. The next day I signed up for the Chicago Triathlon, I didn't know how to swim and only had a mountain bike from 8th grade. This October that statement will come true when I'm racing in Kona.

What was the first race you ever participated in and what place did you finish?

The "Just - Tri - It" Off-Road Triathlon in Manitowish Waters, WI. Overall I think I finished about 20th, and I was 4th in my AG. That was all it took!

What is your favorite race?

Ironman Wisconsin

What is your favorite workout?

Long ride/run brick. There is nothing like hammering out 100ish miles followed up with a run.

What are your favorite Zoot products and why?

The Ultra TT 4.0. I run in these shoes nearly every day, they are by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever run in. On days when I don't run in them I often wonder what I was thinking when I got dressed.

What is your proudest accomplishment?

Qualifying for Kona

What motivates you?

Knowing that I'm putting in work when others might not be.

What is your pre-race meal?

Steelcut Oats, Banana, GU Brew

What is your pre-race ritual?

Listening to my i-Pod.

What is in your triathlon bag that you cannot live without?

Nothing...I think less is more.

What are your goals for the 2011 season?

Get stronger in all three sports and to put together a solid marathon in an Ironman.

Events you are racing in this season:

Ford Ironman World Championship (October 8)

Pigman Half Ironman 8/21/2011
